A 75m wind turbine blade is to be installed in Hull's Queen Victoria Square today as part of the City of Culture celebrations.

The work is the brainchild of artist Nayan Kulkarni and has been created by the workers at the Siemens factory based in the city.

Said to be the largest manmade object of its kind, the piece, according to the artist will "transcend function, pointing us towards beauty".

It is the first work to be installed in Hull as part of Look Up, a year-long programme of artists' works made specifically for the city's public places and spaces, for 2017.
