Campaigners are calling on East Riding Council to do more to stop care homes closing.
They have spent the day gathering signatures on a petition in Beverley which will be presented at a meeting later this month.
They say three private care homes have closed or announced they will close within the last three months and claim it's getting harder for families to find social care beds.
In a statement East Riding Council points out there are 140 care homes in the area but says:
"The council cannot take over any independent business. When independent care homes decide to close ... we work to ensure that alternative care and support arrangements are put in place as soon as possible."
