Stars saddle up for bike ride in memory of late Huddersfield Giants academy player Ronan Costello

Ronan Costello died after sustaining an injury in a rugby match.

Huddersfield Giants stars have set off on a 120-mile bike ride in memory of late academy player Ronan Costello today.

Eorl Crabtree will lead the pack from the John Smith's Stadium on the ride to Newcastle, which is aimed at raising funds for the Headway brain injury charity.

Ronan was just 17-years-old when he sustained a severe brain injury during a match against Salford Red Devils in June last year. He died three days later.

The ride, which has been set up with cyclewear firm Fat Lad At The Back, will take two days and will raise awareness of the cause ahead of Magic Weekend.

We are proud to support Headway and are taking on this challenge in memory of Ronan Costello. It is nearly a year since the tragedy and we want to continue to celebrate Ronan's life.

Ronan will be on our jersey as we ride up to Newcastle thanks to Fat Lad At The Back; they have supported us all the way.
