Thousands of Scouts at a week-long summer camp in Lincolnshire have had a surprise visit from Bear Grylls.

The adventurer in his role as the UK's Chief Scout was helicoptered into the event this morning as part of a nationwide tour where he tries to meet as many young people in one day as possible.

Over the summer we are going to be sharing 50 activities that give young people and their parents the opportunity to learn new skills over the long summer holiday. It’s my summer challenge to every parent - learn a new skills and have an adventure with your children - Scouting can show you how.

5000 young people from across the UK and some from as far away as Russia and New Zealand are at Poacher 2017 on the Lincolnshire Showground where they will have the chance to complete as many adventurous activities as they can.

There were times during Bear Grylls' visit to Lincolnshire when he was mobbed by so many Scouts you could only see where he was by the sizeable crowd around him.
