Barney was taken during the incident on Thursday August 17 between 8.30am and 1.30am in the Cleckheaton area of the town. The parrot is described as a 10-year-old male African Grey parrot. He was taken along with a bag of his food.

Police believe thieves may have used a hessian bag or large box to transport him in as his cage was left behind.

Officers say his owners are devastated and just want him back.

"Any burglary is devastating for the victim, but in this case it’s even more upsetting for the family with Barney also been taken.

Barney does speak, and it’s likely he will be making a lot of noise where ever he is being kept. I would ask anyone who has any information, or who has been invited to buy a parrot like Barney to get in touch so we can re-unite him with his owners.”

– Detective Constable Sarah Hamer of Bradford CID

Also stolen in the burglary was a laptop, Playstation console, lawn mower and strimmer.

Anyone with any information about the burglary, or where Barney may be is asked to contact DC Hamer at Bradford CID via 101 quoting 13170379673.
