Northern Powerhouse Minister to visit Hull

The Northern Powerhouse Minister, Jake Berry, is expected to visit Hull today.

The MP will meet with business leaders to see first hand the extent of Hull's regeneration project.

Lancashire Conservative MP Jake Berry was appointed Northern Powerhouse minister as part of Theresa May's June cabinet reshuffle.

The Rossendale and Darwen MP replaced Andrew Percy. Council Leader, Councillor Stephen Brady said:

"Hull is widely acknowledged as the most successful city in England in seizing the opportunities Enterprise Zones bring."

I am looking forward to meeting the Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and showing him the fantastic projects that have come to fruition, and talk about our plans for the future.

City Director of Regeneration, Mark Jones, said: "Now is an ideal time to meet with the Northern Powerhouse Minister. "

The career opportunities in the city continue to expand and our unemployment figures are at their lowest on record.

He said: "We are about to launch 'Invest Hull' to build on the regeneration to date and look forward to the further opportunities that the city will bring."

The MP will meet with senior business leaders including the Council Leader, Councillor Stephen Brady and the City Director of Regeneration, Mark Jones, to learn about the successful projects that have completed in the city and the Enterprise Zones.
