A decision over whether Grantham A and E will reopen fully overnight has now been deferred until next month, by a group of health professionals at a meeting in Sleaford this morning.
Health bosses revealed that they now have 22 doctors working across Lincolnshire's three A and E's, one more than the 21 they had said was required to reopen Grantham in full. But they say the current level would only provide a 'minimally safe service', and that they ideally need 42 doctors in post to provide a 'good service'.
The trust though says it is still committed to reopening Grantham in full as soon as possible. And that NHS Improvement will now review staffing levels and conclude whether it's safe to do so next month.
