The 36 year old is wanted in connection with three incidents that took place, the first a road traffic collision in North Street where a cyclist was knocked off his bike and injured by a van that left the scene.

The second incident took place a short time later when the van was then involved in a collision with number of other vehicles at the junction of Sheepscar Street North and Scott Hall Road then abandoned.

A Ford Transit van was stolen from the scene after the occupants were threatened with an axe.

That vehicle was then involved in a further incident outside the Arndale Centre, in Otley Road, Headingley, where a pedal cycle was stolen.

We have identified David Riley as being the suspect for these incidents and we have been carrying out extensive enquiries to trace and arrest him. We are now at a point where we need to appeal for information from the public to assist us in finding him.

We would like to hear from anyone who has seen him since these incidents on Saturday or who has any information that could assist.

While we don’t believe he presents any immediate ongoing danger to the public, we advise anyone who does see him not to approach him and to contact police immediately via 999.
