Winter in Wakefield at the start of Spring Photo: LUCY TALLANT

SUNDAY:

Rather cloudy throughout, with early spells of snow gradually changing to rain as milder air spreads northwards. Rain becoming heavier and more persistent into the evening, with low cloud and some mistiness developing. Highs 5°C.

OVERNIGHT:

Rather cloudy once more with further rain overnight. Milder than of late, although slight frost and some icy patches are possible in areas with surviving snowfields, as well as some local fog. Lows -1°C.

MONDAY:

A damp start, with mist and fog patches. Extensive low cloud is likely to persist for many, however spells of rain will become more intermittent, perhaps allowing some brightness later. Temperatures back up to the average for early March at 8°C.

OUTLOOK:

Less cold and windy than of late, but often rather cloudy, with some limited brighter intervals but also some rain. Overnight frosts and icy patches remain possible.
