Police say man who started fire at Hull bank was carrying 'machete' and demanded money

It has been revealed that a man who set fire to petrol in a bank in the city centre demanded cash and was armed with a machete.

The incident which police say brought fear and unrest to the city centre lasted for nine minutes and ended with the man being tasered.

Police are appealing for anyone with mobile footage of the scenes to get in touch. A 24-year-old man is being questioned by detectives this afternoon on suspicion of causing criminal damage, arson with intent to endanger life, possessing an offensive weapon and affray.
