Evofit of man who allegedly attempted to abduct a girl in Scunthorpe

Police have released an evofit of the man who is alleged to have attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl in Scunthorpe.

The girl was walking on Anne's Crescent in the town just after 3pm on Friday, when a car slowed down as she was about to cross the road.

The car is said to have pulled over and the man who was driving leaned across the front passenger side and took hold of the victim near her elbow.

The victim hit out at the driver and ran away, meeting some friends a short time later on Queensway.

Det Insp John Symes, from Scunthorpe Police, said: “At this stage it is unclear what this man wanted but clearly he has caused great alarm to the young girl involved and we are very keen to identify the driver as well as a female witness.

“Incidents such as this do not happen frequently and this was an isolated incident but people need to be aware and parents need to remind their children about how to stay safe.”
