Soap fans are due to be treated to high drama as Yorkshire soap Emmerdale celebrates its 40th birthday with a live episode which will have two weddings, two births and a mystery death - all packed into one hour.

Emmerdale live gets huge audience
Last night's Emmerdale live episode, to mark the Yorkshire soap's 40th anniversary, attracted 9.2 million viewers. This is the soap's highest audience since January 2010. A peak of 10.2 million viewers tuned in to see Carl King being bludgeoned to death with a brick.
