Humberside Police are investigating a burglary in which the Mayor of Bridlington Councillor Michael Charlesworth's home was broken into while he was being treated in hospital. The civic chains, valued at £15,000, were among items stolen.
Bridlington's civic chains have been stolen from the home of the mayor who is currently in hospital after suffering a stroke. The chains, valued at £15,000, were stolen from Councillor Michael Charlesworth's house, some time over the weekend.
A safe containing the chains, a wedding ring and engagement ring belonging to the mayor's late wife, together with a Salvation Army charity box, were stolen when his home was burgled between 11am on Friday October 19 and 4.30pm on Sunday October 21.
