Police in battle over football bill

West Yorkshire police are in legal battle with Leeds United over the cost of policing football fans

Police may withdraw from Leeds United matches

It's been reported that the police may be forced to withdraw their support from high-profile football matches in light of a landmark legal battle between Leeds United and West Yorkshire Police.

Next month the force will appeal against a High Court ruling that Leeds United did NOT have to pay for policing fans around Elland Road. It's claimed that some senior officers believe that the increased costs of football are becoming harder to justify at a time of cuts to the police budget.
