Freedom of York for army medics

Hundreds of people turned out to honour army medics parading through York. Soldiers from the 34 Field Hospital have been given the Freedom of the City to mark decades of lifesaving in conflicts across the world.

The regiment, which will be deployed to Afghanistan next year, have provided medical care for soldiers in Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo and Sierra Leone. But they have also helped local residents during times of crisis.
