Former member of staff tells jury patients were assaulted

A former member of staff at a day care centre has today told a jury she saw a number of severely disabled patients being assaulted.

Four people who worked at the South Yorkshire centre are on trial accused of abusing and tormenting those they should have been caring for.

Vulnerable adults at St Catherine's Hospital in Doncaster with disabilities such as learning difficulties, autism and dementia were allegedly subjected to slapping, punching, threats, and being dragged by their hair, Sheffield Crown Court heard yesterday.
