The severe gale force winds caused some slight structural damage to a building at Park Plaza in the centre of Leeds. Some metal cladding came loose but nobody was hurt in this incident. One Yorkshire roofing specialist reported a six-fold increase in enquiries as a result of the gales.
The Humber Bridge was closed for a time to all vehicles and the Tinsley Viaduct on the M1 at Sheffield was closed to high siders.
