A man has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of a couple from South Yorkshire by dangerous driving on the A14 in Northamptonshire. Stephen Donnelly, who was 26, and his passenger Mandy Gold, aged 21, died in a crash near Naseby on Saturday night.

They were returning home from a family wedding, where Mr Donnelly, a talented musician and church pastor, had played guitar. Wiliam Wilson, who is 33, and from Brigg in North Lincolnshire, has been charged with causing their deaths by dangerous driving and also with drink driving.

He has been remanded in custody by Northampton Magistrates and is due to appear before Northampton Crown Court on July 10th. Mr Wilson was driving a Mercedes car that was in collision with a Ford Ka being driven by Mr Donnelly, and a Peugeot 208.

The 47-year-old man driving the Peugeot was uninjured. Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
