A Lincolnshire council is introducing an exam for anyone applying for a taxi licence. The scheme, similar to the famous "knowledge" test for London cabbies, will quiz applicants on the quickest and safest routes across West Lindsey and will cost 15 pounds to sit.
It comes after the local Council saw an increase in the number of people applying for licences in Lincolnshire and then leaving to work in other places.
Taxi drivers in parts of Lincolnshire will now have to take a test to prove their knowledge of local roads and routes.
Councillor Malcolm Parish says the test will allow the council to ensure the safety of taxi passengers.
