South Yorkshire Police have begun a murder inquiry after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death in Sheffield. Joe Walker, from the Intake area of the city, suffered a single stab wound in an incident early on Saturday.

Police have arrested a third person in connection with the murder of Joe Walker. The 23-year-old died from a single stab wound on Saturday.

Detectives are now questioning a twenty one old woman from Sheffield on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 17-year-old boy has been remanded into custody and a sixteen year old girl has been released on bail.

Teenager charged with murder

Police investigating the death of 23-year-old Joe Walker in Sheffield on Saturday have now charged the 17-year-old who was arrested in connection with the incident.

The 17-year-old boy from Sheffield, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to appear at Sheffield magistrates court tomorrow morning, charged with murder.

The family of Joe Walker who was killed at the weekend in Sheffield are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The 23-year-old was stabbed to death in the Manor area of the city early on Saturday. HIs family have released the following statement:

"As Joe's parents and family we cannot believe the pain and heartache that evil has brought to our family. Those who knew and loved Joe would say that he was a cheerful lad who put a smile on anyone's face who met him.

"Can we ask that if there is anyone who witnessed what happened to Joe, that you show him respect by giving any information at all to South Yorkshire Police.

"Please if you know anything that would assist the police get in touch with them, as this is not the time to hold back. Our family ask that we be left to grieve and come to terms with our loss."

Family pay tribute to murdered son

A family has paid tribute to their son who was murdered in Sheffield on Saturday. Joe Walker was stabbed to death in the Manor area on a patch of land off Raynald Road.

His family said he was a cheerful and loved 23year-old. Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward.

Video: Officers search drains in murder investigation

Police looking for evidence in the hunt for the killer of 23-year-old Joe Walker have been searching drains and manholes at the scene of the murder.

A team of five officers have been using sticks and specialist lifting equipment to sift through debris in roadside drains in The Manor area of the city Joe Walker, who lived in the Intake area of Sheffield, died from a single stab wound.
