A man charged with the murder of Parvaiz Hussain Iqbal has appeared in court.

Naeem Mehmood, 27, of Herringthorpe Vally Road, in Rotherham was remanded in custody at Rotherham Magistrates Court this morning. He is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday 1 November. He is also charged with the attempted murder of another man.

Emergency services were called to a shop in Grosvenor Road, Eastwood, just after 2pm on Tuesday where 40-year-old Mr Iqbal's body was found.

A second man, a 40-year-old from Sheffield, was also found seriously injured at the scene. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Rotherham man Parvaiz Hussain Iqbal.

Naeem Mahmood of Herringthorpe Valley Road, in Rotherham, is accused of murdering the 40-year-old on Tuesday in a shop in Grosvenor Road, Eastwood.

He is due to appear at Rotherham Magistrates' Court today.

Tributes paid to murdered butcher

A relative of a butcher who was stabbed to death in his shop in Rotherham told how a co-worker and locals tried desperately to save him. Parvaiz Iqbal, a popular 40-year-old father-of-three boys, died in his butchers in Eastwood, Rotherham.

"They stayed with him (Parvaiz) and tried to help. They were not successful and we think he died at the scene. This is supposed to be Eid, a day of celebration. Unfortunately, the family has suffered a tragedy and forever more, when this day comes around, they will remember it not for a celebration, but for a tragedy."

The family of a man, killed in a suspected machete attack in Rotherham say they are "devastated" at his death. The 40 year old, named locally as Parvaiz Iqbal, died following the attack in a shop yesterday afternoon.

One relative, Zafar Rahman, told Calendar:

"The family are devastated. We're all devastated. It is hard to take in that such a young, loving father of three young kids has been taken away."

Rotherham "machete attack" victim named locally

A man, who was killed yesterday in a suspected machete attack in Rotherham has been named locally as Parvaiz Iqbal.

Mr Iqbal died following the attack, which is thought to have happened in a shop in the Eastwood area yesterday. A second man was seriously injured during the incident inGrosvenor Road.

A 27 year old man is being questioned by police on suspicion of murder.
