Doncaster's mayor has praised the emergency services for their quick response after fire broke out at a care home in the town. Four elderly residents were taken to hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke after the blaze at Oldfield House Care Home in Stainforth.
"The safety of residents and care home staff is always of paramount importance during incidents of this nature. I would like to pay tribute to the council response team and all the emergency support agencies who worked together to respond so quickly and provide vital support to everyone who needed it."

Four elderly residents of a care home in Doncaster have been taken to hospital following a fire in the early hours of this morning. It broke out at the Oldfield House care home, in Oldfield Lane, at 2am.
Altogether nineteen residents were led out - the four taken to hospital suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.
The fire, believed to have started in a bathroom, was quickly brought under control. An investigation into the cause is ongoing, but isbelieved to be accidental.
