The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, is to step down at the end of this year to take up a new post as Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge. John Sentamu, 62, the Archbishop of York, is widely viewed as front-runner to replace Rowan Williams when he leaves at the end of this year.

John Sentamu said the people of Yorkshire should be very proud of the soldiers who've been killed. Today he filmed a message of support and lit two candles in the Chapel at Bishopthorpe.
The Archbishop said he hoped that the people of Yorkshire will turn out in force to show their support. In due course he wants to vist the families to hear at first hand about the loved ones they've lost.
