On Tuesday night, the Centre stage final took place at the O2 Academy in Leeds. The event was organised to raise funds for the Martin House children's hospice. More than 30 bands took part in the heats, with 12 bands making it through to the final.
The standard was very high, making it a difficult decision for the judging panel, made up from members of Embrace, The Cribs, Pigeon Detectives and industry figures.
The eventual winner received £1000 worth of musical equipment and a coverted slot on the Introducing Stage at the Leeds and Reading Festival. The competition is open to acts under 21 years old and with one member at school or college in West Yorkshire.
