International referee Howard Webb has put on his running shoes to help raise money for a Sheffield children's hospice. Each year Bluebell Wood needs to raise over £3 million to deliver its services, and receives no statutory Government funding.
Currently the Bluebell Wood care team provide support to over 150 children and their families in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. This number is growing with new referrals every week.
The children there have inspired Howard Webb, who is a patron for the charity, to dig out his running shoes and run for the hospice. Howard said:
“I always feel very humbled when visiting Bluebell Wood. The work they do is fantastic and I’m honoured to be an Ambassador for them. They have inspired me to get my running shoes back on again to show my support and I’m urging others to do the same and help raise funds for this amazing place.”
