Planning permission for a new sculpture, reflecting the history of Leeds had been summitted to the council today.
The statue, created by artist Andy Scott, will be built in front of the New Trinity shopping centre on lower Briggate, IF plans are approved by Leeds City Council. The work will be the first major art structure for the city for many years and is inspired by local people and places.
Organisers of Leeds Loves Food Festival have announced a new market will join the hundreds of other stalls at this year's event.
The Moroccan Market of Handicraft will be on Briggate from Wednesday 23 May to Sunday 27 May.
