Calendar News received a national award from Cancer Research UK today in recognition of our outstanding contribution to the cause. The charity’s annual Flame of Hope Awards recognise the remarkable support from people from all walks of life.
Calendar scooped the Media Supporter of the Year accolade, beating off stiff competition from across the UK. Lisa Adlam picked up the award this lunchtime at a special ceremony in London hosted by Cancer Research UK’s Chairman, Michael Pragnell.

The Yorkshire leg of this year's Race for Life series kicked off on the East Coast this morning. More than nine hundred people ran or walked five kilometres along Scarborough sea front, raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
Among them was a Zumba class from the resort - who danced their way around the whole course - inspired by their instructor who beat breast cancer herself six years ago.
