Man hospitalised after crash

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Halifax last night.

It happened at around 9:45pm on Savile Park Road and its junction with Elmfield Terrace between a Peugeot 406 and an Audi A3.

The front seat passenger of the Peugeot was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the Peugeot -a 24-year old man - received minor injuries and has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The driver and passenger of the Audi received minor injuries.

Motorist collapses at the wheel and dies

Police are appealing for information after a 77-year-old man died when his car crashed on the M1 in Rotherham.

The man was on the M1 southbound at junction 33, when he collapsed at the wheel of his blue Nissan Almeria Tino. His car hit a barrier, then the central barrier, and overturned.

The man from Liversedge, West Yorkshire was fatally injured.

His 72-year-old female passenger, who is also from Liversedge, suffered slight bruising and was treated at Rotherham General Hospital.

Former Sheffield United player critical after car crash

The former Sheffield United striker Peter Ndlovu is in a critical condition after a car crash in Zimbabwe, in which his younger brother Adam was killed. The 39 year old is in a coma in hospital in after the accident near Victoria Falls.

The Zimbabwean international played for Coventry City and Birmingham City, and had a short spell on loan with Huddersfield before signing for Sheffield United in 2001. He made 130 appearances for the Blades, scoring 30 goals.

Witnesses sought after Barnsley crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which has left a woman in a life-threatening condition.

At 7pm yesterday evening on the A61, Wakefield Road, Barnsley, a black Honda CRV travelling towards Barnsley collided with two pedestrians crossing the road.

One pedestrian, a 48-year-old Barnsley woman sustained a broken pelvis and leg and a head injury. She's in a life-threatening condition at Northern General Hospital. The second pedestrian, a 44-year-old Barnsley man suffered a broken leg. He's in a serious condition at Barnsley Hospital

The driver of the Honda, a 53-year-old Barnsley man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1055 of 1 December 2012.

Woman dies in car crash in Lincolnshire

A woman has died in a car crash in Lincoln. Police were called to the A16 London Road at Driby Top near Alford at around 2:45pm. 2 cars were involved. The female passenger of one car was pronounced dead at the scene. The male of driver of that car was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by Air Ambulance.

A 3-year-old boy, who was also a passenger, has been taken to Grimsby Hospital. His condition has not been confirmed. Police say they think they are a group of foreign nationals who live in Skegness, but say they are still trying to officially identify them.

The woman driver of the other car and her passenger have been taken to Grimsby Hospital.

Woman dies after being hit by a car in Sheffield

A woman has died after being hit by car in Sheffield.

It happened on 4 July at 7:10am when a green Toyota Yaris was travelling on Tyler Street when it is believed to have mounted the offside kerb and collided with a Sheffield woman, who was walking in the opposite direction.

The 53-year-old was thrown from the pavement onto the banking next to the railway.

A 49-year-old woman from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Cawthorne crash

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a two car crash in Cawthorne, South Yorkshire.

It happened at around 7:30am on the A635 at the junction with Silkstone Lane. The woman has been taken to the Northern General Hospital.

The man driving the other car had minor injuries and was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital. The road is expected to be closed until at least 9:30am.
