A blue plaque will be unveiled later to commemorate the military camp in Cawthorne during and just after World War Two.
After the unveiling there will be a exhibition in the Village Hall. One former resident went on to become a Archbishop in the Vatican and has sent photographs of his time spent in the camp.
A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a two car crash in Cawthorne, South Yorkshire.
It happened at around 7:30am on the A635 at the junction with Silkstone Lane. The woman has been taken to the Northern General Hospital.
The man driving the other car had minor injuries and was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital. The road is expected to be closed until at least 9:30am.
