Actress and Loose Women star Denise Welch has been on the trip to Lapland several times before. She says watching the parents strength in the face of the medical problems their children have faced always moves her to tears:
Bhaskar Patel plays Rishi Sharma in Emmerdale. He was one of the celebrities invited to spend the day with the children on the trip. Speaking at the Arctic Circle he told us the whole experience had left him lost for words:

After lunch the children all took turns to meet Father Christmas. They gave him their present lists and were presented with a gift to open there and then. We caught up with some of them after they had met Santa:
The most senior elf in Lapland's enchanted forest says she looks forward to welcoming back the families from the When You Wish Upon A Star trip each year. Kaisa Käkönen says she enjoys showing the families all the activities that you can enjoy there:

First stop on their tour of Lapland and the plane of children from our region visited the enchanted forest to enjoy a huge range of wintry activities. There was sledging, husky rides, snowmobiles among other things:
A plane full of children who have all had serious medical problems to deal with were greeted in Lapland by specially dressed Santa's little helpers. Morgane Corneloup was glad of her squirrel outfit in the -10C temperatures, though she explained that the temperature was relatively mild:
It is surely every child's dream to fly off to Lapland to meet Father Christmas at this time of year and for one very special plane full of youngsters that is exactly what's happened.
Dozens of families from our region whose children have had to cope with difficult medical conditions have flown out there and our reporter James Webster was with them as they went 'Searching For Santa'. This is part one of his special report:
For some of the children who took part in the trip it was their first time on a plane. 'Loopy Louise', herself a Monarch crew member, worked as a jester during the journey to keep passengers entertained, even disappearing into the cockpit to help land the plane!
