Orr keen to work with Raper

Castleford caretaker coach Danny Orr says he would welcome the opportunity to work alongside his former boss Stuart Raper at the Tigers.

Raper, 48, who was in charge of Castleford from 1997-2001, has offered to return to his old Super League club following the departure of Ian Millward.

Tigers chief executive Steve Gill says the club are considering the offer and it is thought Raper could be appointed as interim boss as soon as next week.

Under the new arrangement, Orr 34, would work under Raper for the rest of the season, giving the club more time to appoint a permanent head coach.

Orr readily accepts he is not yet ready to assume the role, having retired as a player only last September and has this week been taking tips from Leeds coach Brian McDermott, under whom he played for London Broncos.

"I've said I need to learn my trade here, I'd be silly not to listen to people like Mac and Stuart Raper. They've all been there and done it and I haven't.

"Whoever comes into this role, I'm more than happy to work alongside and hopefully they will better the team and educate me along the way so that I can become a better coach for it."
