Huddersfield's Queensgate Market has beaten over 700 markets from all over the country to be named market hall of the year by the National Association of British Market Authorities at their annual awards ceremony.
This is the second time Kirklees Markets have received the highest award from NABMA, following Dewsbury Market's previous win of Market of the Year in 2007.
– Councillor Peter McBride, Kirklees Council
"This is terrific news for Queensgate Market, and a great honour for us to be recognised as the best in the country.
“I’m delighted to hear that the judges were impressed by the innovative work of our Markets Team. For some time now, we’ve focussed our efforts on encouraging new businesses to see market trading as a cost-effective way to test out their ideas. "
