The people of Sheffield have rejected the system of directly elected mayors.
The votes:
- In favour of the elected mayoral system - 44,571 (35%)
- In favour of having a Council Leader - 82,890 (65%)

Labour have held onto control of Leeds City Council after the local elections, having gained 8 seats.
The Liberal Democrats have lost 6 and the Conservatives have lost 2 seats on last year.

Doncaster has voted to retain its elected mayor.
