Murder police continue to question man

Police investigating the murder of antiques dealer Peter Battle at Full Sutton continue to question a 26 year old man from North Yorkshire. He remains in Police custody and an application is to be made to the court for a Warrant of Further Detention.

Information is still being sought in relation to activity in and around the victim's home address, Whisker Cottage, in Full Sutton from around Christmas time to February 7 this year when Mr Battle's body was discovered.

Anyone who is approached to buy items that Mr Battle was known to trade in, such as silver and gold coins and sovereigns and silver cutlery is also asked to come forward with information.

Detectives have revealed that a man found murdered at his home near York was a gold and silver antiques dealer. The body of Peter Battle, who was 56, was discovered at his house in Full Sutton almost a week ago. He'd died from severe head injuries.

Police want to find his relatives and get details of anyone who may have visited his cottage recently. A twenty six year old man has been arrested.

Police appeal to help identify murdered man

Police are appealing for help to identify a man found murdered at house in East Yorkshire. The man's body was found yesterday at Whisker Cottage in Full Sutton near Stamford Bridge. He's believed to have been in his fifties.

We are under taking enquiries to establish events which led to this man losing his life. We are seeking to confirm his identity and locate any next of kin. Although very much in the early stages of the investigation, we have not managed to trace any family or friends who are able to identify the man, nor is there an apparent motive for his murder. We are keen to hear from anyone who might have information about the victim, who is believed to be the occupier of Whisker Cottage. If you have information which can help us to trace his next of kin we appeal to you to speak to us. "

The cause of the man's death currently remains unconfirmed until a post mortem can take place.

Whisker Cottage and some surrounding area is presently cordoned off to enable investigations to take place.

Murder investigation launched

Humberside Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body at a house in an East Yorkshire village.

Officers found the body of a man in his 50s in Whisker Cottage in Full Sutton, near Stamford Bridge, following a call reporting concern for the safety of the resident of the property.

A spokesman said they gained access and discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s. The police have confirmed they are treating the death as suspicious.
