Ambitious plans to restore an eight sail windmill in Lincolnshire, which is the only one of its kind in the country, have been approved.
Planners at North Kesteven District Council have backed a proposal to improve access to the landmark in Heckington and install new bakeries and a visitor centre.
The Friends of Heckington Windmill have already received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to pay for some of the work on the Grade 1 listed building. They now need to raise further money to turn the plans into reality.
Volunteers are raising money to save Heckington's unique eight sail windmill.
Heckington windmill is famously the only windmill of its kind in the country - but volunteers are facing a race against time to secure its future.
The building's eight sails are so rotten they're locked in place to stop them falling off.
But repairs are just the start of a grand plan to transform the site.
If enough money's raised a visitor centre could be built which would pay for its upkeep for years to come.
