A flight from Leeds to Amsterdam had to turn round this morning due to a technical problem. The Jet two departure landed back at Leeds Bradford Airport safely and the problem is currently being investigated.
The Yorkshire based airline Jet2 is at the centre of a major investigation after an 11-year-old boy who didn't have a passport, ticket or boarding pass got on to one of their flights to Rome unaccompanied.
It was only when the plane was half way to Italy from Manchester that passengers became suspicious and alerted the cabin crew.
– Jet 2 statement
On Tuesday an 11-year-old boy cleared security at Manchester Airport, without the necessary paperwork but had been through a full security search. The boy then boarded our flight bound for Rome. We have launched a full investigation into what is a serious incident, and the staff involved have been suspended pending the outcome. The boy has been returned safely to his family.”
