Prescott claims he was victim of conspiracy between press and police
The former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott says he believes he was the victim of a "conspiracy of silence" between members of the press and certain police officers in the aftermath of the phone hacking scandal. The former Hull East MP made the claims at the Leveson inquiry into media ethics.
Prescott : " Scotland Yard initially denied my phone had been tapped"
Former Labour Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott told the Leveson Inquiry that he asked Scotland Yard if his phone had been hacked after claims that it had been appeared in The Guardian newspaper. Initially Scotland Yard said there was no evidence that his phone had been tapped.
