Mother runs through Olympic Stadium in son's memory

A mother whose son died when he was apparently fit and healthy will pay a special tribute to him tomorrow. Luke Morton, from Kirkby in Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, died in February aged 20 - a victim of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.

His mother Suzanne will be among the first people to run through the Olympic stadium in London as it officially re-opens tomorrow. Helen Steel reports.

The Olympic torch relay begins today at Land's End, but already a Doncaster student has tried out the facilities at the Olympic Stadium in London.

19-year old Jacob Clark from Bessacarr took part in a preparation event ahead of this summer's Games as part of the British Universities College of Sport.

The event was run like a mini Olympics, featuring athletics, basketball and other sports.

Jacob took part in the 1500 metre 4x4 relay representing Leeds University.

“My events took place on the Saturday night, it was a fantastic atmosphere with around 40,000 people in the crowd.

“This is a great time for sport and everyone in Doncaster is excited about seeing the Olympic torch pass through the borough on 26 June.”
