Alan Hardwick has told the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel that he wants more people to become voluntary PCSO's to effectively see the return of the village bobby.

The voluntary officers would be uniformed and offered full training at an estimated cost of around £400, 000.

They would then work in the community with low level powers. Mr Hardwick says he is striving for a police presence in every community.

Mr Hardwick says he has already had a steady stream of interest from members of the public.

Former Lincolnshire PCC candidate contacts police over campaign 'scandal'

Lincolnshire Police today confirmed that former PCC candidate Mervyn Barrett had contacted the force about his concerns surrounding the conduct of his former campaign manager.

His campaign team came under public scrutiny after it emerged it was being led by a man who claimed to be working for an American right wing lobbying organisation.

The campaign leader said he was responsible for the European operations of the organisation, and that they supported greater involvement of the private and third sectors in policing.

We are now in the process of deciding which is the appropriate force to investigate the matter, ourselves or the Metropolitan Police.
