Hospital staff walk-out over pay cuts
An underfire hospital has been ordered to make urgent improvements after patients were left in an unsuitable ward without proper facilities. Thirty patients at Pinderfields Hospital, in Wakefield were kept for more than 23 hours in what was meant to be a just a day ward.
The official health watchdog said the failings were completely unacceptable. Tina Gelder reports.

Thirty patients at Pinderfields Hospital, in Wakefield were kept for more than 24 hours in what was meant to be a just a day ward. They had to wash from disposable cardboard bowls, eat sandwiches or microwave meals and keep their belongings on the floor.
The official health watchdog the Care Quality Commission, says the failings were completely unaceptable. Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, which runs Pinderfields has apologised and said it has made significant improvements.
The future of hospitals in parts of West Yorkshire will be debated as a major review of clinical services gets underway. Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust which runs Pontefract, Pinderfields and Dewsbury hospitals wants to save 24 million pounds.
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found fatally stabbed in a flat in Wakefield. The victim , who has not been named, was taken from the flat in Marsland Avenue in the Eastmoor area of the city to Pinderfields Hospital where he died later.
A 35 year old man and a 23 year old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
