Drax Credit: Calendar

A modernisation project costing £100m is about to be completed at Drax Power Station. The five year long development has seen an upgrade of the turbines. The aim is this will make it more energy efficient.

Farmers without power

Homes in Farndale are still without mains electricity after they were cut off in a storm more than a fortnight ago.

The houses lost power during storms on the night of April 3 to 4. Many supplies have since been restored.

But about eight farms in Dale End have still not been reconnected – with farmers right in the middle of the lambing season.
