A modernisation project costing £100m is about to be completed at Drax Power Station. The five year long development has seen an upgrade of the turbines. The aim is this will make it more energy efficient.
Homes in Farndale are still without mains electricity after they were cut off in a storm more than a fortnight ago.
The houses lost power during storms on the night of April 3 to 4. Many supplies have since been restored.
But about eight farms in Dale End have still not been reconnected – with farmers right in the middle of the lambing season.
Work on a power station in Lincolnshire that will be fuelled entirely by straw is due to start in April. The £155 million Sleaford Renewable Energy plant is expected to power 65,000 homes. Most of the fuel will be sourced from farmers within a thirty mile radius. Up to 80 jobs will be created.
