Border collie dog rescued from burning flat

A 19-year-old dog has been rescued from a flat fire in Scarborough.

Fire crews were called to an address in Castlegate this morning where they found the Border Collie dog, who was then given oxygen therapy at the scene. The occupants of the flat managed to get out safely.

The cause of the fire was thought to be a chip pan.

Police appeal after man injured in Scarborough nightclub attack

A 35-year-old man needed surgery after being punched in the face at a nightclub in Scarborough.

It happened at the Vivaz nightcub on Huntriss Row at around 1.30am on December 20, 2014.

The victim was standing next to the dance floor when he was attacked. He lost his glasses in the incident but they were returned to him by another man later that night.

Officers would like to speak to the man who returned the glasses as he may have vital information to the investigation.
