Fresh appeal over New Year stabbing

Det Supt Terry Mann on the steps outside the Sheffield club where Joshua Green was stabbed to death in the early hours of New Year's Day.He made a fresh appeal for information despite already speaking to many of the people in the club that night.

"While many people have provided us with statements others have chosen to stay silent or have refused to help."

Four people are answering bail in relation to the killing but no-one has been charged.

A fresh appeal is being made for witnesses to the fatal stabbing of 27 year old father of two Joshua Green. He died after attending a New Year's Eve party at the Stars and Mayfair Function Suites on Queens Road, Sheffield.

Joshua's mother Sarah Thompson, his girlfriend Aisha McNellie and his two year old daughter will join South Yorkshire Police in an appeal for witnesses to come forward. There were more than 400 revellers in the club that night.


Elderly woman spared jail for stabbing

The elderly wife of a man with Alzheimer's disease has been spared jail after she stabbed him 17 times when she cracked under the pressure of caring for him.

Seventy eight year old Florence Thomson attacked her husband Keith at their home at Long Sutton, in Lincolnshire. She was given a community order at Lincoln Crown Court after admitting wounding.

Man found stabbed in flat

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found fatally stabbed in a flat in Wakefield. The victim , who has not been named, was taken from the flat in Marsland Avenue in the Eastmoor area of the city to Pinderfields Hospital where he died later.

A 35 year old man and a 23 year old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Stabbing in Kirbymoorside

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Kirbymoorside, North Yorkshire.

A 27 year old man suffered a puncture wound on Monday 30 April and is being treated at Scarborough District Hospital for treatment.

Officers are still trying to find the weapon.

An 18 year is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court.


18 year old appears in court

A 18-year-old man has appeared before Wakefield magistrates charged with the murder of two teenage girls in the city. Ahmad Otak, of Linton Rd, Wakefield, spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth.

He is charged with stabbing Kimberley Frank, 17, and Samantha Sykes, 18, at a flat in Barden Rd last Friday. Otak is also charged with the assault and unlawful imprisonment of Kimberley's sister, Elisa, kidnapping her, and possessing a large kitchen knife.

He was remanded to Doncaster Prison and will appear via video link at Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.
