Sheffield student suffers broken jaw after robbery

A Sheffield student has been left with a broken jaw and several missing teeth after a group of men attacked and robbed him in the street.

The 18-year-old was assaulted in the Hunters Bar area between 12.30am and 1.30am on Sunday by four or five men, described as being Asian or Afro-Caribbean.

The first-year psychology student also had his wallet stolen during the incident.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the robbery to contact them.

Two arrested after student injured

Two men have been arrested after a student suffered serious head injuries early yesterday morning in an incident at Sheaf Street, Sheffield.

A 19-year-old man, a student from Macclesfield, was walking along the street when he was allegedly assaulted by another teenager.

The pedestrian ended up in the road where he was then in collision with a dark grey Nissan Micra, which apparently left the scene.

He was taken to the city’s Northern General Hospital, where he is recovering.

Since yesterday a 19-year-old man from Warwick has been arrested on suspicion of assault, questioned and bailed until next month.

A 21-year-old man from Derby has also been arrested for failing to stop at a traffic collision and dangerous driving. He has been given police bail until next month.

Student seriously injured in hit and run

A 19-year-old student was seriously injured in a hit and run accident in the early hours of this morning.

The accident happened just after 3am in Sheaf Street in Sheffield city centre when a vehicle was in collission with the teenager. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene .

The 19-year-old, who's not been named, was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which at this time are thought to be serious.

A 21-year-old man is helping police with their enquiries this morning.
