Seven-year-old Sophie Clucas delivered a letter to the Prime Minister today, protesting about his proposed tax on alterations to listed buildings.

She has been going to Wakefield Cathedral all her life, and wants to get married there, like her mum and grandma before her.

The cathedral's currently half way through a £2.5 million renovation project. But Sophie fears the work will stop if an extra £0.5 million is added because of a VAT hike.

Wakefield Cathedral is unveiling a second protest song at a national charities tax summit in London today as the campaign to stop the Government introducing VAT on listed buildings alterations grows.

Pamela Greener, the wife of the Dean of Wakefield, whose VAT Ditty recorded in the nave of the partially demolished Grade 1 listed Wakefield Cathedral, has now been invited to speak about the impact the proposed VAT changes will have on churches and charities.
