Yorkshire X-Factor hopes to be mentored by Mel B

Yorkshire's two hopes in this year's X-Factor competition will be mentored at the home of Leeds-born Spice Girl Mel B.

Jake Quickenden from Scunthorpe and Jack Walton from Townville near Castleford will fly to Mexico where Mel B and fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton will have to cut the contestants from six to three.

Former Bradford stage school star voted off X Factor

A former Bradford schoolboy has been voted off the X Factor after making the final three.

17-year-old Luke Friend attended Beckfoot School in Bingley, and learned to sing at his local Debut Theatre School.

After making the final three in the ITV show, the teenager duetted with Ellie Goulding - but was voted off last night.

He remained positive about the eviction, telling the audience, "Look how far I've come!"

Former X-Factor contestant Ella Henderson signs to Sony

Former X Factor contestant Ella Henderson has signed a record deal with Sony. The 16-year-old from Tetney near Grimsby in Lincolnshire was a firm favourite to win the competition, but was controversially voted off the show weeks before the final.

She took to Twitter to thank her fans following the news. She also said she is looking forward to next year.
