Homes for injured soldiers' families

A house is being built for families of injured soldiers from our region to stay at while their loved ones are recovering at Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham.

The Fisher House Charity has built 58 homes near hospitals in America so families can stay for free while relatives receive treatment for sometimes traumatic injuries.

The house in the UK is being built near the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Nick Gibbons from Sheffield was treated in Birmingham after he lost a leg in a blast in Afghanistan in 2008.
