Cigarette packets influencing children

A cancer charity is urging people across Yorkshire and the Humber to support removing images from cigarette packaging.

Cancer Research UK have made a film showing how children are attracted to the designs on the packets. It is as the Government carries out a consultation into the future of packaging.

Each year in Yorkshire and the Humber there are a total of around 3,400 deaths from lung cancer.

Nicki Embleton from Cancer Research UK Yorkshire said: "This footage provides us with a chilling insight into how powerful branding and marketing can be. Children are drawn to the colourful and slick designs without having a full understanding of how deadly the product is inside the pack."
