Flood defences

Flood defence banks are being put in place to help homes in Lincolnshire.

Around 250 homes near a river close to the Lincolnshire coast will benefit from it. The Environment Agency is carrying out work on the flood bank along a stretch of the Great Eau at Saltfleetby.

The existing bank is going to be removed and a new flood defence put in place along the boundaries of the field that the river goes through.

The scheme will create a new area of grazing marsh. This will act as a washland during flood conditions and will reduce the risk to nearby properties.**
