The Olympic showjumper and racehorse trainer Harvey Smith will carry the Olympic torch on horseback in York tomorrow night. He will ride the final furlong of York Racecourse and then dismount to light a cauldron where the flame will stay for the night.
74 year-old Harvey competed in the Olympics in Mexico 1968 and Munich 1972. He will ride Paddy, a seven year old showjumper who could be an Olympic contender of the future. 24,000 local people will watch the celebration event, which include a performance by Katy B.
